With a light breeze from WNW, Race Officer John Hughes set a course which did not take the fleet of ten boats too far out into Falmouth Bay. After some jockeying for position at the start there was a signal from the Race Officer that a yacht was over the line, but it was not until the end of the race we knew that the signal was for Demolition. The elegant yacht, Spyros, joined the fleet for the first time this season for the race. Jetta got away well, up river towards Trebah, and rounded the windward mark, not far behind Jacobi, with Orijin third. Spinnakers were then hoisted for the run down river and out to the Nare mark. Jetta hugged the South shore and gained advantage over the rest of the fleet, which kept to the North side of the River. At the Nare mark Big Purple had worked her way up into third place, with Orijin, Gotcha and Jabadeo following in a group. The leading boats passed Kudu as they approached the almost windless Shag mark, and Jabadeo was third to round, having passed Big Purple. The remaining marks were within the River, with Jetta losing out a little to the leader, Jacobi, who proved to be the winner by ten seconds on the IRC handicap. It was close enough that the PY handicap gave Jetta first place by seven seconds.
