The IRC results for this race have been amended, using the 2006 ratings.

This photograph of a basking shark was taken by Adam Hayes from Jacobi. It was taken just after the race ended off Rosemullion Head, near the mouth of the Helford River.

The nine yachts headed up-river to the first mark off Trebah Beach into a light westerly breeze, with the fastest boat, Jacobi, leading the way. The wind was very fickle, and the boats towards the end of the fleet found themselves having to beat against the wind again as they headed in the opposite direction at the River mouth. At the Dennis mark Jacobi was still in the lead, followed by Demolition and Shere Khan, with Magic Bus, Jetta and Jinjy at the back of the fleet. As the race drew towards its conclusion the wind became very light and fluky. Some boats were sitting hopelessly becalmed, whilst others crept past, only fifty metres away, in a different wind. At the finish Jacobi was over ten minutes ahead of the improving Demolition, (just under four minutes on corrected time). Demolition recorded her best result so far this season, with a second, four minutes ahead of Shere Khan in third place.

As a bonus after the race, the crew of Jacobi were treated to some fine views of six basking sharks, which put on a fine show to please the photographers on board.
