Clean bottoms clean up!
With Jacobi's skipper on holiday the remainder of the fleet had their chance to secure a winning result. Nine yachts headed out of the River towards the Rosemullion mark in Falmouth Bay into a light breeze from the South East. The three J 92s, Jetta, Forza! and Jabadeo worked their way into the lead with Jinjy not far beind. The course then involved a beat to the Nare mark and Jetta began to pull away from the rest of the fleet. A spinnaker run back to Rosemullion confirmed Jetta's lead, as the above photograph shows, and Jabadeo began to threaten Forza! finally getting past on the beat back to Nare. It is interesting to note the marked difference in Jetta's performance after cleaning her bottom at Gweek boatyard on the day before the race. Also Jabadeo had been cleaned since the previous week, perhaps helping her to beat Forza! into third place. The series has been won by Jacobi, but Forza!, Jetta and Big Purple are all well placed to snatch second place, if only they can win the final race.
