There was a light breeze from the WSW as nine yachts came to the start for the second race in the Late Summer Series. As the yachts prepared for the start waterbourne paparazzi appeared, in the form of Rob Hewett and Dan Flunder, taking photographs for the Club yearbook. Stuart Sawyer, set a course taking the fleet out into Falmouth Bay after a short beat up to the Voose mark against the ebbing tide. Hatty and Kudu were first away at six o'clock, and fifteen minutes later the faster boats followed to the Voose mark, just below the Narrows. Crews then hoisted their spinnakers for the long run before the wind out into the bay, but Vitalstatistics waited until she was clear of the River before hoisting hers. Jacobi was already leading the faster boats at the August Rock buoy, with Jabadeo also going well. The J105, Orijin, then began to move up through the fleet from sixth into second place as she rounded the Rosemullion mark. Jetta was third to round, followed by Big Purple, Gotcha! and Jabadeo.  Gotcha! and Big Purple were both pointing higher than Jetta as the boats beat back towards the river mouth, and both managed to pass Jetta. Gotcha! went on to gain on Orijin, crossing the finish line ahead by three seconds, with Jacobi already home by a comfortable six minutes. Although Jetta repassed Big Purple on the way to the Gew mark, it was not enough to avoid Big Purple forcing Jetta into fourth place on handicap. Kudu was again the first of the PY only boats, with Hatty retiring, but Kudu did beat both Jabadeo and Orijin on the PY handicap.
