Showers were passing through as the sailors left the Club pontoon, but fortunately a dry spell followed for the rest of the evening. The race began with a beat up to the Turning mark off Trebah Beach, and then the spinnakers were hoisted for the run down to Nare Point. It is a Club rule that after a westerly start, boats should not pass through the start line on the second leg of the race. Both Demolition and Vitalstatistix may have passed through the start line. As the boats headed out towards Nare Point Jacobi led the way followed by Big Purple, Jabadeo and Jetta. Jetta passed Big Purple on the way back into the River, but Big Purple stayed close, with Jabadeo and Magic Bus not far behind. Fleeting Feeling did not let the faster boats get too far away and recorded a second place, a minute after Jacobi on corrected time.
