A gentle but steady breeze and warm sunshine greeted the eight ladies taking part in the annual Lady Helm race at the Helford River Sailing Club. Officer of the Day, Tony Statham, set a course mainly in the River and the only PY entry, Jackpot, helmed by Emily Postle, got away fifteen minutes before the main fleet crossed the short start line towards the Toll Mark. Jacobi soon established a lead followed by Jabadeo and Jetta. On the spinnaker leg out towards the Dennis mark Jetta kept closer to the South shore than Jabadeo, and took advantage of some gentle gusts to round the mark just ahead of Jabadeo. Big Purple managed to pass Jabadeo on the beat back to the Toll mark, with Demolition getting close to Forza! Jacobi finished at the Turning mark by Trebah Beach in a little over thirty-five minutes, winning the Lady Helm Race for the third time in the past three years.
