Origin heading to Rosemullion
The forecast was for rain and increasing wind, and both arrived as predicted. Jabadeo, Big Purple and Orijin all got away to a good start and led the fleet of eight yachts as they headed our of the Helford River towards Porthallow. It was not until just before Nare Point that Jacobi managed to catch Big Purple. The wind was almost dead ahead for the beat into Porthallow and rounding the mark there was an unfortunate "coming together" of Jabadeo and Gotcha!, but it is understood that no serious damage resulted. Jetta and Orijin sailed together towards Rosemullion and just as the spinnaker drop had begun at the Rosemullion mark, Jetta was hit by a gust which pulled the sheet out of the hands of the struggling crew, to be recovered again, but well past the chosen turning point. Going back into the River to the finish Big Purple just managed to carry her spinnaker which enabled her to finish nearly two minutes ahead of Jacobi on corrected time. Jingy had her best result so far with a fourth place and Kudu nearly matched Orijin on the PY handicap.
